Upper Silesia Industrial Tour

Upper Silesia is one of the most industrialized regions of Europe. It is also most densely populated region of Poland with long traditions in mining industry. Today there are more than a dozen of active coal mines here, as well as power plants, iron and steelworks and many other industrial plants.

First stop on our way from Krakow will be the city of Tarnowskie Gory where you will visit old silver mine and famous Black Trout Shaft. In silver mine you will see amazing labyrinth of underground pavements. Most of the mine preserved its original appearance from 18th and 19th centuries and together with some original mining exhibits along the sightseeing path, whole visit gives very strong impression. In Black Trout Shaft you will experience also fantastic underground boat cruise along the dolomite rocks of the Frederic mine. Don’t be surprised if local bats with fly just over your heads during the cruise.

After those underground adventures we will go to Katowice – capital and biggest city of Upper Silesia region. After short visit in the center we will stop in Nikiszowiec – housing estate of miners built in the early decades of 20th century. Today it is a “living” monument of history and important tourist attraction of Katowice with very unique architecture.
