Blonia
Blonia (Meadows) is a huge green lawn, very close to Krakow Old Town. It is absolutely rare that such a big area of 48 hectares survived in the centre of big city. Blonia has shape of triangle between Focha, 3 Maja and Piastowska Streets.
Blonia became a common pasture for people of Krakow in 1366 when the Norbertine Convent which owned this area, traded it for a house on Florianska Street. Despite many attempts since then to exploit this huge meadows, today Blonia still serve as a public recreational area, there are two sport clubs here and lots of paths around it for jogging, cycling etc. The Blonia field has been the site of many important events, including the first aeroplane flight from Krakow in 1910 and Pope John Paul II's huge masses for millions of Poles. It is also a great place for big open-air concerts. [Around]
