The buildings at Boulevard of Roses represent the hight of pseudo-Renaissance ornament on Socialist Realist buildings. In the centre of the small square there is a rose garden were the monument of Włodzimierz Lenin used to be placed.

The monument has been the subject of numerous sabotage actions. In the night of 18 April 1979 explosives were planted in an attempt to blow the monument out. However, the statue survived and in 1989 it was removed by the local authorities. Eventually, in 1992 it was sold to a collector from Sweden.
