Central Square is simply like a Main Market Square of Nowa Huta. Of course it has nothing more in common with Krakow's Main Market than just being a heart of the city. It was laid out in 1949 at the very beginning of building new city of Nowa Huta.

It was designed by architects: Tadeusz Ptaszycki, Maria and Janusz Ingarden. Square is open from the south side. In 2004 Central Square was modernized and adjusted to serve better to recreational needs of Nowa Huta's citizens. It has today broad boulevards with many benches. In the middle of the square there is a monument to Solidarnosc movement.
