Lajkonik Parade


more Lajkonik Parade is an old traditional Polish celebration which takes place every year on first Thursday after the Corpus Christi. The main hero of this event is Lajkonik – a rider with long beard, dressed in oriental clothes and riding on an artificial horse. He always passes the traditional route from Zwierzyniec Quarter to Main Market Square.[Concerts & Festivals]

Pierogi Festival (Dumplings Festival)


more Pierogi Festival in Krakow was first organized in August 2003 and lasted 2 days. Each year it was becoming more and more popular and now it lasts sometimes for even five days. It is still organized every August around 14th – 16th of the month which corresponds with the Catholic Feast of the Assumption.[Concerts & Festivals]

International Soup Festival


more It is the only festival of this kind in Poland. It was first organized in Krakow in May 2002 and as it turned out to be successful one, since then it is held annually, always in May. Jewish Culture Festival

Wianki Festival


more History of the Wianki festival goes back into pagan times. Before Christianity dominated Poland, in pagan tradition day of 24th June each year was a day of fertility celebration called Kupala Night. Juwenalia Students Festival

Ars


more Ars cinema was opened in 1995 in the same tenement where once existed older cinema called “Kino Sztuka”. Today’s Ars cinema is not a big one, but perfectly located, right next to the Main Market Square.[Cinemas]

Kijow


more Kijow is a modern cinema, located off the Old Town area but still close to the centre, right next to Cracovia Hotel. It has 2 halls: big one Kijow Centrum and smaller one Kijow Studio.[Cinemas]

Stary (Old) Theatre


more Old Theatre in Krakow is really old. First performance took place here in 1781 and it was a French comedy. By the end of the 18th century this theatre raised almost to the name of national theatre. During the 19th century it performed across European capitals and gained fantastic fame.[Operas & Theatres]

Ludowy Theatre


more Ludowy Theatre, in English 'The People's Theatre', is one of the most famous in Krakow and definitely number one of its kind in Nowa Huta, the former communists-planned city founded near Krakow in 1949. Slowacki Theatre


more The theatre has been continuously staging plays since 1893. It is one of the most famous and distinguished Polish theatre scenes. The edifice, designed by Jan Zawiejski, is ranked among the most valuable monuments of theatre architecture in Europe. Krakow Philharmonic


more The building was completed in 1931 as Catholic House according to the design by Jozef Pokutynski. The main initiator of the building was Prince Adam Cardinal Sapieha. Panga Pank Theatre

Cricoteka Theatre in Krakow

Bagatela Theatre
