Mariacki Square is the one right next to the Church of St Mary which almost connect with Main Market Square. It actually contains of two small, quiet courtyards. Square was created after 1802, it replaced the cemetery of the St Mary's Church which existed here before.

Cracovian burghers were buried here until the change of burial regulations in 1791. Today different colours of paving stones mark where the old walls and the five gates to the cemetery stood. In the centre of the Square there is a small fountain with a figure made of bronze which is a copy of one of the sculptures from St Mary's Church made by Veit Stoss. This copy was made in 1958 and is also known under the name of the Student's Monument.
