Adam Mickiewicz was one of the greatest Polish poets of all times. His poem “Pan Tadeusz” is considered to be the Polish national epic. This monument was created in 1898, on the 100th anniversary of Mickiewicz's birth.


Every year on Christmas Eve (Adam saint's day), Adam Mickiewicz Monument is decorated with flowers by the florists of Krakow. The monument to the poet Adam Mickiewicz is familiarly known as „Adas” to the inhabitants of Krakow. It is a popular place for people to meet before heading off to the bars and cafes of Old Town. It is also common meeting point for tourist groups sightseeing Krakow.
