Pierogi Festival (Dumplings Festival) in Krakow

Home > Culture > Concerts & Festivals > Pierogi Festival (Dumplings Festival)

Pierogi Festival in Krakow was first organized in August 2003 and lasted 2 days. Each year it was becoming more and more popular and now it lasts sometimes for even five days. It is still organized every August around 14th – 16th of the month which corresponds with the Catholic Feast of the Assumption.

The Pierogi (Dumplings) Festival is usually celebrated at the Plac Szczepanski (Square) and Small Market Square, where several restaurants and food producers present their offers. There is always a lot to taste: many types of pierogi with different fillings, either cooked or fried with their crispy golden crust, as well as traditional oscypek cheese from the mountains. Stands with food are usually surrounded by stages with live music including Polish folk and jazz which gives the event such a nice atmosphere. Every year thousands of citizens of Krakow as well as foreign tourists show up here to taste this delicious Polish traditional food.
