When you walk from Krakow train station toward Old Town, suddenly in the Planty ring (just off Szpitalna Street), on your left a huge, imposing building will show up. This neo-Baroque construction is the Slowacki Theatre.
It is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Krakow because of its top class architecture. It is especially beautiful in the night when it is illumined with special lights. It was built in 1892 and replaced a former Church of Holy Spirit. Slowacki Theatre was the first building in Krakow with electric lights. Today it is popular, fancy theatre with rich repertoire including Shakespeare and Opera.
