Small Market Square (Maly Rynek) in Kraków

Home > What to see > Old Town > Small Market Square (Maly Rynek)

Small Market was originally the Butcher's Market, filled with numerous rows of stalls selling meat and fish. In the 18th century it was transformed into vegetable and fruit market. In 1903, the stalls were removed to make a room for tram tracks. However tram tracks were here only until 1953.

Today it is very nice and calm place very close to Main Market Square but much more quiet. It is actually separated from Main Market only by the Church of St Mary and the Church of St Barbara. It is a great place to visit, especially during the summer season when beer gardens are open here along main side of the Small Market.
